Meadow Kapsul™

The Meadow Kapsul™ takes aluminum beverage cans and turns them into a pre-filled cartridge for use in the personal care and beauty spheres. The idea is that the aluminum cans can be used as refills without having to decant the product into the dispenser, but instead by simply changing the can inside it, thus reducing mess. Meadow chose to work with aluminum beverage cans as they keep light out, and aroma and freshness in and take an average of 60 days to recycle. Working in collaboration with DRT, the company that developed the traditional can end, Meadow has replaced the beverage can end with the Meadow Kapsul™ end, to enhance versatility while maintaining the can’s optimal characteristics. Meadow also works with dispenser suppliers, so brands can tailor the outer dispenser to their desired shape and material. Meadow also assists co-packers in adapting filling equipment to the Meadow Kapsul™ technology. Technology Features
The product development centres on the beverage can, a well-established circular container optimised over decades. It keeps light out, aroma and freshness in, and is recycled and back on the shelf on average within 60 days with no change to the integrity of the original material. Most importantly, it is surrounded by an established ecosystem, including supply chains, recycling infrastructure, and recognised consumer behaviours. In fact, 75% of all aluminium ever produced is still in use. We have replaced the beverage can end with the MEADOW KAPSUL™ end by collaborating with DRT, inventors of the traditional can end, to enhance versatility while maintaining its optimal characteristics. Additionally, we reduced raw material and weight by eliminating the pull tab. A unique crimped end was introduced to provide visual and tactile cues for different usage. The first MEADOW KAPSUL™ pilot launched in Spain in 2024. Through our partnership with Ball, we can enable local sourcing. Meadow collaborates with dispenser suppliers to support brands in tailoring it to their preferred shapes and materials.
