Product Description (No Prototypes accepted)
OCEANBOOST™ is a versatile, water-soluble polysaccharide that addresses inflammaging. This fucoidan ingredient – meaning it’s a polysaccharide derived from the cell walls of brown algae – is upcycled from an invasive algae species that negatively impacts ecosystems by blocking light and depleting oxygen. By removing the seaweed before it reaches the shore and decomposes, the harvesting regenerates marine ecosystems and positively impacts coastal communities. In this way, the ingredient bridges the gap between biotechnology and environmental regeneration, transforming the ecological burden of invasive Sargassum into a bioactive that visibly reduces the appearance of inflammaging. The ingredient itself is extracted through a patented green chemistry-based biorefinery process. Acting to address inflammaging, sensitivity, and redness in the skin, the ingredient is compatible with skin care and color cosmetic formulations, remains stable across a broad pH range, and can be integrated into the aqueous phase of emulsions, gels, and serums.

Product Innovation
One of our innovations lies in decoupling skincare actives from traditional agriculture. While many natural and “sustainable” ingredients rely on land intensive crops, or sugars that fuel fermentation, OCEANBOOST™ is upcycled from Sargassum requiring zero land, fresh water or fertilizers to grow. As one of the few providers of high-purity Fucoidan scaling globally, we’re transforming a niche molecule into a regenerative high-performance reality. Our harvest improves socio-economic conditions and advances SDGs in impacted communities; the more we produce, the faster we “Wash the Oceans”. Our value proposition lies where skin rejuvenation powers tangible environmental impact.
Claims & Benefits
Validated in vivo at 0.3%, OCEANBOOST™ delivers multifaceted skin health benefits, combining short- and long-term efficacy. Stripping tests confirmed its ability to provide immediate soothing and, within 28 days, a significant reduction in the signs of sensitive skin. As a high-purity polysaccharide, it functions as a humectant to improve hydration while reinforcing barrier cohesion through its anti-inflammatory effect.
Its true innovation lies in its sulfated bioactive groups: these groups actively modulate multiple biological functions, including collagenase, hyaluronidase, and elastase, which helps protect essential ECM proteins from degradation. This protective mechanism can complement high-performance actives—for example, enhancing the efficacy of peptides by preserving the very proteins they stimulate. Its anti-inflammatory profile can mitigate the irritation potential of retinoids and exfoliating acid formulations.
Its ability to support wound healing, reduce redness, and inflammation makes it a novel addition to acne-prone skin products or post-procedure dermo-cosmetics. Its efficacy at low concentrations makes it an ideal choice for color-care hybrids where formula space is limited. Beyond topicals, its multifunctional profile supports a holistic inner-outer beauty approach, ranging from microbiome-friendly skincare to wellness-focused, skin-improving ingestibles.
Research, Clinical Tests & Trials Results (Safety & Dermatological)
Throughout 2026, OCEANBOOST™ will undergo a robust, multi-phase testing framework designed to provide additional safety data and further validate its position as a high-performance bioactive. The ingredient is already dermatologically validated, having successfully passed an HRIPT to confirm its non-irritating profile on sensitive skin. To augment this safety profile, it will undergo OECD 492 in-vitro ocular irritation testing by the end of Q2.
In 2025, in-vivo stripping tests confirmed immediate relief of skin discomfort following a single application and a significant reduction in the clinical signs of sensitive skin after 28 days. This data establishes the clinical efficacy of OCEANBOOST™ for compromised barriers or sensitive and reactive skin types. To further these results, an ongoing Q1 2026 clinical study is evaluating visible redness reduction (quantified by average reduction of haemoglobin), barrier improvement (TEWL), and skin uniformity (quantified by reduction of melanin and hyperpigmentation). This new data will validate the ingredient’s ability to not only soothe irritation and reinforce the barrier but to significantly improve overall skin tone and radiance.
Our Q1 roadmap continues with clinical trials to showcase improvements in firmness and elasticity, the visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, and effects on the skin microbiome. This is paired with a comprehensive 30-point in-vitro screening of the most common skincare pathways; during Q2 and Q3, we will begin additional in-vivo studies to further validate the most promising of these results.
Lastly, we are advancing deep-tier biological understanding through customized in-vitro models to quantify OCEANBOOST™’s impact on SIRT6, the hallmark biological longevity marker. In parallel, we are exploring the prebiotic gut-skin axis to showcase Fucoidan’s inner-outer beauty potential, demonstrating how optimized gut health translates to systemic skin wellness when utilized as an ingestible supplement.

Ingredients List & Formulation (Mandatory, if not specified disqualification from the contest)
INCI: Fucoidan
Due to its high purity profile (>80%), OCEANBOOST™ is classified as a well-defined chemical substance; it is designated by its specific molecular INCI name, distinguishing it from crude algae-derived extracts.
Technology Features
OCEANBOOST™ is born from a regenerative supply chain and a patented circular biorefinery model. While traditional algae extraction often results in up to 90% biomass waste, we achieve near 100% utilization. Our feedstock is an invasive algae decimating ecosystems by blocking light and depleting oxygen. By removing this threat before it reaches the shore and decomposes, we “Wash the Ocean,” actively regenerating marine ecosystems while providing a positive socio-economic impact for coastal communities.
High-purity Fucoidan is one of multiple value-added streams from this process. Residual biomass is repurposed for animal feed, decoupling livestock nutrition from land-intensive crops, soil enrichment, and biomaterials. This zero-waste model follows Green Chemistry principles, operating without Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) and utilizing a closed-loop system to recycle process reagents.
Currently, we are finalizing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) calculations to quantify our environmental impact. This systemic integration of specialized technology and regenerative sourcing ensures OCEANBOOST™ is not just a bioactive, but the product of a truly circular, restorative industrial ecosystem.
