Mask-no-Mask is based on Algin, a polymer extracted from brown algae. Thanks to its ability to act as ionic exchanger, Algin allows a classic emul-gel to transform into a peel-off mask through a calcium based Activator. In this way, one product can be used both as a daily treatment or a shock treatment. Spreading some product on the skin and spraying the Activator, a polymerization of the texture starts, turning it into a peel-off mask. Acting also as a barrier stopping water, Algin promotes the absorption of the functional elements. Mask-no-Mask can be enhanced by adding any functional element.

Mask-no-Mask main benefit lies in its transforming action, which is able to give rise to two different textures, thus responding to a double cosmetic need. On the one hand, the most classic need for a daily treatment, in emul-gel texture; on the other hand, the more specific need for an intensive treatment, in jelly peel-off mask texture. That, with a single product. In addition to this, the special formulation can be customiized with any active ingredient (moisturizing, anti-aging, etc.), fragrance or color, depending on the specific needs of the customer.
Technical details
Natural Polymer extracted from brown algae, Algin has the capability to absorb water up to 200-300 times its mass and salts up to 60% of its mass. This gives Algin interesting cosmetic properties, being able to be used to convey minerals and other active substances in a matrix that contributes to maintaining a high skin hydration. Moreover, being able to form insoluble salts when in presence of calcium, it allows to transform a classic gel texture into a peel-off mask through the development of a three-dimensional reticulum in which water is trapped.

Why the product/formulation is innovative?
Because it takes advantage of the typical capability of Algin to act as ionic exchanger in order to transform a stay-on liquid texture into a peel-off solid texture. This is possible thanks to a polymerization reaction of Algin when in contact with calcium ions. Using this technology, it is possible to create any type of emul-gel that, in addition to the classic use as a daily treatment product, can become an intensive treatment, as mask. After spreading some product on the skin, spray the special Activator onto skin to start the process of transformation from one texture to another. The formulation can be customiized with any active ingredient (moisturizing, anti-aging, etc.), fragrance or color, depending on the specific needs of the customer.
